Trekking

For most people, the word safari conjures up the image of driving all day to look at wild animals in the African savannah. Although this way of visiting Tanzania is great fun, we think it's even better to be able to walk around in the bush and get a feel for the fauna and flora without having to listen to a motor half the time.

On our trekking safaris, we spend part of the time inside a vehicle because we have no choice in the matter. It would be very unproductive, for example, to walk from Arusha to the Serengeti. Also, it is illegal to walk in some areas, such as inside the Ngorongoro Crater. However, in our programs, we include walks on the periphery of National Parks as well as around several lakes, canoeing, climbing lesser-known craters and interacting with fascinating Tanzanian tribes, such as the Bushmen, the Tatoga and,
of course, the Maasai.

Accommodation is medium camping. What do we mean by medium camping? We supply the tent, mattress and pillow, you bring your sleeping bag and your sense of adventure because you won't find hot showers or electricity at the campsites. We use kerosene lamps and we cook on charcoal. That said, the cook and his aides pitch the tents, cook our food and make sure we are comfortable. This might not be luxury camping but we'll be having a great time.

Take a look at what we have to offer:

5-day Northern Circuit Overview
6-day Ngorongoro Highlands Trekking
10-day Northern Circuit Discovery
12-day Northern Circuit Exploration
17-day Paka Shume Challenge

Our Paka Shume Challenge is so named because we believe that no one else offers such a diverse combination of game driving, mountain climbing, trekking, canoeing, camping and cultural tourism in and outside the National Parks of the Northern Circuit in one single trip. We've put a lot of attention to details to come up with the best combination for this special program.
