Climbing

Mount Kilimanjaro

At an altitude of 5895 m (19340 feet), Africa's summit, Mount Kilimanjaro, is the dream of all non-technical climbers. The mountain can be climbed throughout the year. However,
it is highly recommended to avoid the two rain seasons (March to mid-June and October to the beginning of December) when the trails are slippery. The best months to tackle the mountain are January and February and from August to October.

Here are the programs we offer:

Marangu Trail
Marangu Trail is the most popular and touristy trail up Mount Kilimanjaro, so much so that it has been nicknamed The Coca-Cola Trail. Paradoxically, it's also difficult because of its steepness. The chances of reaching the summit by this trail are only 55% because a lot of people get overtired by the steep ascent. We overnight in huts along the way.
We offer two versions of this trail: a 5-day climb and a
6-day climb. The 6-day climb gives you a chance to get acclimatized and enables you to climb more slowly, which increases your chances of reaching the summit.

Machame Trail
This route is more difficult than Marangu Trail, but as the climb takes longer than the typical 5-day climb up Marangu, there's a better chance of getting acclimatized and therefore of reaching the summit. We overnight in tents carried
by our porters. We offer two versions of this trail:
a 6-day climb and a 7-day climb.

Umbwe Trail
This route is a bit more difficult than Machame Trail as the first part of the trail is steep and not easy to negotiate. Umbwe Trail joins Machame Trail about two thirds of the
way up. As this is also a camping route, we overnight in
tents carried by our porters. We offer only one version
of this trail: a 6-day climb

Rongai Trail
This much less crowded trail takes you up the mountain from the back. The road to get there is quite long, but once you arrive, you're almost on your own, with your fellow climbers and the team of guides and porters taking care of you. On the way down however, we take the Marangu route. We are still using our tents, even though Marangu is a hut route. We offer only one version of this Trail: 6-day climb.

We also offer a single-day initiation up Mount Kilimanjaro:
